How to refer.

Please contact the practice to discuss suitability and arrange secure delivery of a referral. Include your name, practice and contact details in the initial email, without patient information or attachments.

Email [email protected]

Clinical documents should be sent only through the secure channel agreed with the practice.

What to include

For Better Access, the referral must be written, signed and dated, and state:

  • the number of sessions (up to six for an initial course);
  • the patient’s symptoms or diagnosis;
  • current medicines;
  • whether a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan or Psychiatrist Assessment and Management Plan has been prepared.

Also helpful: contact details, relevant history and current treatment, risk and safety information, and treatment goals. GP referrals must come from the patient’s usual GP or practice, or their MyMedicare practice.

After you refer.

  1. 01

    We contact your patient

    We review the referral and contact your patient to discuss suitability, times and funding before booking. We aim to reply within two business days.

  2. 02

    Assessment and treatment

    Treatment is tailored to the assessment and the patient’s goals, using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, CPT and DBT skills.

  3. 03

    Reports back to you

    A written report at the end of each referred course of Better Access treatment, covering assessment, progress and recommendations, with earlier updates where relevant and with consent.

Funded and agency referrals.

WorkCover, TAC and EAP clients are seen under approved arrangements. Acceptance depends on the scheme or program, authorisation to see Dr Lattimore and telehealth suitability. Approved sessions may have no gap fee; funding, sessions and any patient contribution are confirmed before booking, and invoices go to the funding organisation.

This is not a crisis service. Stress, burnout or relationship concerns alone don’t establish Medicare eligibility.
